SANS Mentoring

SANS Mentor Program

Mentoring here in Sydney, Australia

I have been given the opportunity to mentor some of the SANS courses I’ve taken. I try to make the training relevant, enjoyable and something that will help with your work and career.

Why be mentored rather than the take the other SANS offerings?

Time, convenience and having a kindred spirit learning and teaching the subject you’re interested in.

Time is the something we do not have to waste in IT, despite the rest of the business world’s view. Being able to learning the vast amount of information any SANS course presents is a daunting undertaking. The Conferences are fantastic, there’s a real buzz to the place and it’s amazing to be part of it. When the last day comes to an end, most of us want to collapse from the sheer mental energy expended.

Mentoring is taken at a much more gentle pace. There’s a week in between each session to absorb the information, giving you time to work through the practical course work. This is a fantastic way of applying the training to your job, bounce ideas off the rest of the class and relate how the material relates to your role, experiences and workplace.

Having a mentor in the same city and country means that if you have questions you can get answers quickly and appropriate for our corner of the world.
